Mixgear, or Mix-Gear, was a multimedia project created by Cyan Productions. Not much is known about it currently, though it is the game that has the debuts of some Lunime characters, particularly the ones who appear in Gacha World in Vinyl City.

Development[]

Mix Gear was first mentioned on 3 February 2012, in a tweet published on an official Twitter profile dedicated to Put The Record On. The post stated an open question whether the release date for the latter game should be delayed, in order to work on this newly-found project.[1] It was also disclosed that Mix Gear would be the cartoon of Put The Record On, following the storyline prior to the game, but using a different art style.[2][3] Fatal in-game bugs, which stopped the game publisher from releasing the game, were the main cause behind this sudden shift in development.[4]

3 days later, on 6 February, 2046808, one of the members from the Put The Record On development team, shared that he had attempted voice acting for the cartoon. A link to the recording of his voice acting attempt was also embedded onto the post.[5] On the same day, a minor announcement on the Put The Record On Twitter profile was published, encouraging followers to vote for 2046808 and his voice acting reel.[6] 2 weeks later, on 20 February, the aforementioned voice actor received the script for Mix Gear, as stated by him in a tweet.[7]

On 22 March, Xyo, the lead developer of Mix Gear briefly confessed that he wants to work on the comic version of Mix Gear first, later shifting his focus on producing the cartoon. Later, on that same day, three pages of the comic were shared.[8][9][10] Further progress on the comic was shared 4 days later,[11][12][13] with a short announcement which stated that Phantom, one of the team members, had begun digitalizing the comic.[14] By 28 March, 11 pages of the comic were already finished.[14] In the process, the website dedicated to Mix Gear received a comic section.[15]

On 30 March, Cyan Productions was launched. Together with that, it was revealed that Mix Gear would become part of its catalogue.[14] However, on 12 April, it was announced on the game studio's forums that further development of the project was put on hold, in order to focus on completing Color Burst.[16] On 30 April, a Facebook post regarding the progress of Mixgear was shared on the project's official Twitter profile.[17] The aforementioned post has been made unavailable; therefore, its contents are currently unknown.

On 3 September, artwork featuring some of the characters from Mix Gear was uploaded onto Cyan Productions' DeviantArt page.[18] This was the last progress point in regard to this project at the time. However, on 13 July 2017, pages of the unfinished Mixgear comic were shared in the Lunime Facebook group.[19]
